We offer you a ride in a snowmobile sleigh to the world of stone giants of the Cape of the Giant, which in winter is even more magnificent than in the summer. Huge icicles hanging from stone boulders, frozen waterfalls, and now icefalls, striking with their splendor, floating in a sea of ice.
Cape "Giant" - a natural monument, probably the most impressive place on the coast of Sakhalin. This natural monument, received its status in 1990, is in the Korsakovsky district on the eastern coast of the Tonino-Aniva Peninsula.
Along the entire coast from Cape Bird to Cape Velikan there are many grottoes created by wind and sea waves, standing right in the sea of caves, arches and pillars, on which bird colonies are located.
These stone giants have poured into cozy coves, a sandy strip of coast, rests against rocks, covered with a continuous impassable taiga.
It is believed that the name of the cape gave Ivan Krusenstern. On his ship Nadezhda, he explored the southeast coast of Sakhalin, was surveying the shore. While sailing past Cape Velikan, Krusenstern was delighted with the beauty and grandeur of the rocks, giving them the appropriate name. According to another version, the name came from the transformation of the Japanese word "uerikan". It was during the occupation of the south of the island that the Japanese called this cape.
